windows kernel development virtual machine

Is there any open source virtual machine software?

There is a lot of open source virtual machine software out there, and here are a few recommended ones that work better.

For different operating systems, there are different virtual machine software available.

Based on Apple Mac

1: VMwareFusion

This software is from VMware, which allows us to run Windows, various Linux systems through this software on Apple systems. Even the latest Windows 10 systems are fully supported. It can be connected with vSphere, ESXi and Workstation servers to start, control and manage virtual machines (VMs) and physical hosts.

Currently the latest version is: VMwareFusion11.5.1

2: OracleVMVirtualBox

Organized by Oracle Corporation, and a commonly used cross-platform virtualization product, OracleVMVirtualBox can be used on MacOS, Windows, Linux or OracleSolaris to run multiple operating systems. The latest version is: 6.0.14

Based on Microsoft Windows platform/Linux platform

1: VMwareWorkstationPlayer

The software is also from VMware, VMwareWorkstationPlayer is built with the same features as VMwareWorkstationPro and VMwareWorkstationPlayer. VMwareWorkstationPlayer is built on the same platform as VMwareWorkstationPro and vSphere. The latest version is v15.5

2: LinuxKVM

Then there’s the big name, KVM

KVM is a fully virtualized solution for Linux on x86 hardware that includes virtualization extensions (IntelVT or AMD-V). It consists of a loadable kernel module, kvm.

With KVM, it is possible to run multiple virtual machines running unmodified Linux or Windows images. Each virtual machine has dedicated virtual hardware: network cards, disks, graphics adapters, etc.

3: Xen

Xen was developed by the University of Cambridge. It is an open source GPL project managed by XenSource. Xen virtual machines can be migrated live between multiple physical hosts without stopping.

After installing the VMware 10.01 virtual machine on the Win7 system, you can’t install the Win7 system at all in the virtual machine

This problem usually occurs because the image downloaded in the virtual machine is the Ghost version, not the original version, for the Ghost version of the system installation image in the virtual machine you need to partition and then install it. Users can refer to the following steps to install the virtual machine system:

1, open the vmware, in the left window, right-click, “New Virtual Machine”. In the pop-up window, select “Customize”, and then next step.

2, to install win7 in the virtual machine, so to select the windows kernel, so in the pop-up “select a guest operating system”, select “Windows”. Naming the virtual machine, according to their own situation can be named.

3, the number of processors, according to the situation to choose.

4, specify the amount of memory, the virtual use of memory as large as possible, so that you can effectively improve the operating speed of the virtual machine, individuals to the recommended memory 1GB for the settings. If the physical machine’s memory is very large, this can be set a little larger.

6, save the disk file, this file must be saved in their own familiar directory, because the reinstallation of the system or change the computer, as long as there is this file, you can use vmware to open it directly, without the need to reinstall the virtual machine.

7, after the completion of the setup, click “Finish” to create a virtual machine, create a virtual machine is complete, in the new virtual machine on the right click, select “Settings”. Click “CD/DVD”, check the “Use ISO image files”, select the Win7 installation image downloaded personally. After setting up, click “OK”.

8, and then in the virtual machine, right-click and select “Power” – “Turn on the power”, to start the installation of bt5.
